Easter Basket Prep

I finally feel like I am ahead of the game for a holiday.  Well, not really ahead of the game.  More like just on time which is a HUGE achievement in my book lately. :)

A friend told me about these cute Easter baskets her co-worker's wife was making and sent me some pictures through email.  I decided to jump on it, knowing that if I kept putting it off Campbell might end up being "that kid" without an Easter basket at the Church egg hunt.  I am happy to announce, he won't be that kid.  He's got a personalized blue basket that was delivered this weekend!

Now to phase 2 of the Easter basket prep... finding goodies to put in his basket!  The boy loves Thomas the Train so anything having to do with Thomas would be a sure win.

We have a beach trip in May and it would be nice to have a cute towel or cover-up for Campbell.

Life Lately...

I can't believe how bad I've been at keeping up with the blog lately.  I really go in spurts when I'm all energized about creating a post and sharing pictures.  But it seems the longer I go without updating, the harder the first post back can be.  So with that, here is a hodge podge of our life lately:

Campbell is a funny little guy and his personality is coming out more and more.  He loves to race and be silly with his friends.  This is Campbell and Baylor at a Sunday evening football watching party at our friends' house.  He can say "Tennessee", "Go Vols" and "Go Big Orange" on command.  We are prepping for his first football game in Neyland Stadium a few years in advance.  With the class Coach Jones just recruited hopefully they'll be awesome again by the time Campbell makes a game! :)

I was off from work for the MLK holiday in January, so Campbell and I went to his very first movie at the theater.  We saw Frozen, and it's safe to say I enjoyed the movie just as much as (okay, probably more than) Campbell.  It was so cute!  I wasn't sure how he would do in a movie theater given he had just turned 2 but he did awesome.  He was definitely fidgety near the end of the movie and climbed all over his seat and my lap and ate every single snack I brought.  But we made it through the entire movie!  It was such a special treat to get to have a date during the week with my little man.

January also brought the first round of Snowmaggedon to Atlanta.  We survived the storm relatively unscathed and Campbell was unimpressed with the snow.  He didn't like it getting on his boots.  Case in point:

We didn't have any sledding or snowman adventures just yet.  I had to hold him pretty much the whole time we were outside since he wasn't a fan of the snow.

In between another snowstorm that kept us home-bound a few more days, February brought a few days of really nice spring weather.  DeDe sent Campbell some Mickey bubbles as a Valentine treat and we had fun testing them out on the deck.  Every time I grabbed my phone to snap a picture he would say "I WANNA SEE!" and come around to check it out.  He loves looking at pictures and watching videos of himself!

The next picture is totally random.  Campbell impersonating Daddy watching TV.  Love that belly hanging out of his penguin pajamas!

We had a fun Sunday afternoon jumping in a bouncy house our friends blew up in their garage.  The kids loved it.  Campbell also had a blast riding in the wagon and attempting to push some of his girlfriends around in it.  We walked to a neighborhood pizza place later and enjoyed a nice dinner with friends.

If you can't tell from all these photos, Campbell is a very active guy.  He loves to play outside and is pretty much on the go 24/7 (unless we let him watch Thomas the Train, then he is glued to the couch)!  He enjoyed two visits from his Grandmommy recently.  They played cars, read lots of books and rode bikes outside.

I found these little $5 Thomas the Train sunglasses at Target last weekend and knew Campbell just had to have them.  He is obsessed with Thomas.  The glasses went to bed with C for nap time ... he just couldn't let go of them.  He was also like that with a new pair of tennis shoes I got him recently.  He cried because we wouldn't let him wear them to bed and then the next morning when I went in his room to get him up, the first thing he said was "shoes on now?"!  Sure buddy, anything you want!

And Just Like That, He's Two

I blinked my eyes and my baby turned two.  To say the past two years have gone by in a flash would be a massive understatement.  And the craziness of moving back to Atlanta and then being nomads all summer made the year zip by even faster.

Campbell is such a big boy.  He is so smart and becoming really verbal.  It's so much fun to have conversations with him on the way to school or when we get home in the evenings.  He mimics almost everything we say and do, but somehow he makes it a million times cuter! :)

I'm loving this stage with him but really feel like I want to freeze time just for a little bit.  I've really realized how fast time passes and am trying to be more present and in-the-moment when I'm with him.  For instance tonight I read him extra books at bedtime.  He wanted me to, but I also was just enjoying having him (and Mickey of course) snuggled in my lap engrossed in the stories of Curious George and Thomas the Train.

We went to the doctor this morning for Campbell's 2 year check up.  He weighs 28 pounds (67th percentile) and is 34 inches tall (31st percentile).  Oh, and he's still ringing in at the 95th percentile in head circumference!  The boy's got some brains!

Last weekend we had a party at the house to celebrate his birthday.  Almost everyone we invited was able to come by so we had a full house.  But it was fun.  And thankfully for the second year in a row we had an unseasonably warm day so the kids were able to play outside and we were able to spill out onto the screened-in porch and deck.  Campbell is really into "choo choo's" so obviously we went with a train theme.

You are so loved Campbell!  Happy 2nd Birthday buddy!

For Auld Lang Syne

For old time's sake I wanted to reminisce for a bit on 2013.  It was an eventful year with ups and downs but plenty of blessings all around.

January
We celebrated a big milestone - Campbell's 1st Birthday - by having a little party with family and friends at our house in North Carolina.

I attended my first Duke basketball game in Cameron Indoor.  Let's Go Duke!

February
TC finished up his final month at Duke and we prepared for our move to Atlanta!

Starting to get very familiar at the Lowe's as we pick out appliances and work on projects for the new house...

March
We moved from Durham, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia and closed on a new house.

April
In April I went to Chicago for my friend Ellen's wedding.  It was a great reunion with my Chi O girls.

May
We headed back to Durham to celebrate TC's graduation from Duke's Fuqua School of Business.

TC and I also celebrated 3 years of wedded bliss!

June
Our luck took a turn for the worse in June when a huge oak tree fell on our house during a storm/tornado.  I was on a flight home from San Francisco while TC and his mom were at home with Campbell.  Luckily everyone was safe and sound.  But the damage took months to clean up.

July
We celebrated 4th of July down in Savannah with TC's family and then escaped to the beach in South Carolina late-July for a wonderful low-key vacation.

August
In August I headed back to Savannah for a girls trip with some of my college sorority sisters.  We had a ball - just like old times!

September
We moved back into our house and started to get re-settled after the big tree debacle.

October
We had a great time with our spooky little guy.  He dressed up and went trick-or-treating as a lion this year!

November
We made a weekend trip up to Knoxville to cheer on our Vols.  Luckily we know some pretty nice Auburn fans who didn't rub in the outcome too much. :)

December
We had a big time celebrating our birthdays and Christmas with our families. And Campbell also had his first pee pee on the potty December 17!  Potty training here we come... :)

Cheers to a happy, healthy 2014!
